September 20th 2017 Swatch - Seahorses

Here is our last swatch of the month.

Level of Difficulty:  Easy

Materials: 1 skein of cotton yarn.
#6 US Knitting Needles

Notes:  B = border stitch of 2 knit stitch on each side.
YO = Yarn Over
K2Tog = Knit 2 stitches together

Left Crossover: Slip 2 stitches to double point needle & hold in front of work, K2 from left needle, then K2 stitches off double point needle.
Right Crossover:  Slip 2 stitches to double point needles & hold in back, K2 stitches from left needle, then K2 stitches off double point needle.

  
Cast on:      Multiple of 8 + 2 (16 +4Border=22)   Cast on 22 stitches
Border:
Row 1:        Knit across.
Row 2:        Knit across.

Pattern:
Row 1:        B2, K5, *YO, K2Tog, YO, K2Tog, K4; repeat from *, end last repeat with K1, B2.
Row 2:        B2, P18, B2.
Row 3:        B2, K5, *(YO, K2Tog) x2, K4; repeat from *, end last repeat with K1,B2.
Row 4:        B2, P18, B2.
Row 5:        B2, K1, Work left crossover, (YO, K2Tog) x2, repeat from *, end with K1, B2.
Row 6:        B2, P18, B2.
Row 7:        B2, K5, *(YO, K2Tog) x2, K4; repeat from *, end last rep with K1, B2.
Row 8:        B2, P18, B2.
Row 9:        B2, K1, *(YO, K2Tog) x2, K4; repeat from * end with K1, B2.
Row 10:      B2, P18, B2.
Row 11:      B2, K1, *(YO, K2Tog) x2, K4; repeat from *, end with K1, B2.
Row 12:      B2, P18, B2.
Row 13:      B2, K1, *(YO, K2Tog) x2, work right crossover; repeat from *, end with K1, B2.
Row 14:      B2, P18, B2.
Row 15:      B2, K1, *(YO, K2Tog) x2, K4; repeat from *, end with K1, B2.
Row 16:      B2, P18, B2.

Repeat rows 1-16 till desired length (I worked rows 1-16 one more time and rows 1-12 one more time.

Border:
Row 1:        Knit across
Row 2:        Knit across

Bind off and weave in ends.


You can make into a cloth by adding more stitches to cast on. You may want to increase the border stitches to 4 on each end and increasing the pattern stitches to 24 + 2 + 8 border = 34 stitches.

September 5th 2017 Swatch - Picket Fence Swatch

Here is our swatch for September 5th.  It is a stretchy stitch which would be good for garments.

Level of  Difficulty:  Easy

Materials: 1 skein of cotton yarn.
#6 US Knitting Needles

Notes:  B = border stitch of 2 knit stitch on each side.
K2Tog = Knit 2 Stitches Together
C.O.= Cast On = Start to knit next stitch, with completed stitch still on right needle, turn your needle to the right (twist), transfer stitch to left needle.   To watch this done go to:  www.knittinghelp.com


Cast on:      Multiple of 2 (22 which includes border sts.) Cast on 22 stitches
Border:
Row 1:        Knit across.
Row 2:        Knit across.

Pattern:
Row 1:        B2, *C.O. 1 (then Knit that stitch), K2Tog; work across row ending B2.
Work row 1 throughout. I repeated row 1 twenty times.

Border:
Row 1:        Knit across
Row 2:        Knit across

Work to desired length.


You can make into a cloth by adding more stitches to cast on. You may want to increase the border stitches to 4 on each end and increasing the pattern stitches to 30 + 8 border = 38 stitches.
