May 20th Knitting Swatch

Our second swatch for May is called "Waterfall Pattern".  It does look like water traveling down stream.  It is a lace but it isn't a difficult pattern.

Level of difficulty:  "Easy"

Materials:  1 Skein cotton yarn
#7 US  Needle
Size: 5 x 6

Cast On: This pattern is a multiple of 6 + 3 (for the swatch we are making 18 + 3=21, + 2 = 23)

Our cast on for this swatch will be:     23 stitches

If I were making a cloth of this pattern, I would cast on 30 + 3 = 33, plus border 6 = 39 stitches.  For a towel I would use the following process:  48 + 3 = 51 + border 8 = 59.  Keep in mind that this is lace and may not be the best design for a towel.

The basic swatch should be the same width and length, this one ran a little long on the length.  To rectify this you should knit till square and then finish off.  If you don’t care that it isn’t an exact square, then go ahead and finish all the rows and then add your border and finish up.
